Busy!

We have had a very busy weekend! We started off with a tumbling birthday party for my friend's little girl. Campbell turned 2 and we had a blast! David stayed home with the boys and I took Paige. I brought my camera, but it didn't make it out of my bag. I was too busy chasing Paige around the tumbling bus and shoving cake in my mouth.

It was very unseasonably warm here this weekend. I'm talking 80 degree weather. So we capitalized on that by taking a trip to the zoo! David played golf, so I got a babysitter for the twins and Paige and I met my friend and her little boy, Ethan there. Ethan and Paige look like they could be boy/girl twins.

They have a huge playground there, and Paige loved it. But this little girl annoyed the crap out of me. She kept telling Paige to hurry so she could go.

Paige and Ethan getting a good look at the pigs.

My little angel

GOATS!

We also tried on our outfit for our Valentines Day photo shoot. Callie is coming over on Thursday to take some pictures of the kids for Valentines Day. If you are thinking that I have my kids picture taken more than anyone else, then you and my husband have something in common. I tell him - David. It isn't that expesnive! And he says, you are right, it isn't. BUT - you have to buy new outfits. At least 2 per child. Then you feel the need to buy cards to send to everyone we know using said pictures in said new outfits. Hmmm...I guess he has a point...

David and I have been busy getting our upstairs playroom in working order.

Paige has a kitchen, art table, all her toys, and an iPad for Caillou watching up there. It is a pretty cool place for a kid to hang.

Today, David went to the Thunder game, then when he gets home, I am going to get a mani/pedi, and we are finishing up the day with dinner at my parents with my family and some of our friends.

We live such a blessed life full of family, friends, and fun outings. These are the best days of my life, thus far. I can't wait to see what the future brings.

Cowboys and a house cleaner, I guess.

I must say, I can't for the life of me understand where Paige learned to vacuum. We are always gone when our house cleaner is here, and if I ever vacuum myself (rare - yes, I hang my head in shame), then it is when she naps.

Instinct, I guess?
She can vacuum and hold her baby at the same time.

Cutest cowboy I have ever seen.

Paige and Jack with my grandfather, Jack.

The Jacks
Fattest cowboy I have ever seen.

We had a little dinner at my parents house, and I felt like dressing the boys up in their boots and hats : )

Boys two month check: they are perfect! Jack is huge. Almost 13 pounds. 90th percentile. Braley is no shrinking violet...he is almost 11 pounds and in the 50th percentile. Coming from babies who were 5 lbs and 6 lbs at birth...we are thrilled!

Blue bath, and other random things.

Everyone was so sweet to the bug when the boys were born. We got so many big sister gifts. One of them being these balls you drop in the bath that turn it colors. She LOVES it! And it is great because we are teaching her colors right now.

How fun does that look!

Paige amazes us every single day. She counts to 10 with ease, knows blue, yellow, purple, green, and red, is really getting good at her ABCs, and can sing most of twinkle twinkle. She is a pro at two word phrases now. Example: mommas car, daddas shirt, bye bye bath. And speaking of bye bye bath - we must say good bye to everything. Anytime we leave a room. Example: bye bye crib, bye bye diapers, bye bye rock (her rocking chair), bye bye truck (the truck that is parked outside our neighbors house that is visible through her window)...anytime we leave her room. It is cute. And a bit of a time waster. But she is doing very well. David and I are quite pleased.

To the poster who made the comment about Calliou being bald...OMG - that cracked me up. Seriously. I wish I could take credit for that, but I won't : )

Mother of the year...I crown myself

When you are exclusively breastfeeding 2 month old twins and have an older child at home, you do what you can to keep them occupied.

Paige now uses our iPad as her personal Caillou connection. If you aren't familiar with Caillou, you obviously don't have a toddler. Or you entertain them by ways other than the TV : /

What happens when we have to tell Caillou bye bye.

What happens when I say nevermind, Caillou can come back out and play. Yep - mother of the year here, folks.

Totally ignoring what just transpired.

Hold you

Paige is obsessed with the babies right now. "Hold you, Jack! Hold you, Braley!" She says over and over again until I let her hold them. She understands that one is Jack and one is Braley. But when you point to one of them (whether Jack or Braley) and ask who this is, she always says Jack first. But when you say no, this isn't Jack! She will correct herself and say Braley (although it comes out more like Bay ee. Cutest thing ever.)

Braley bubber cubber. Love him.

Hold you, Jack!

Hold you, Braley!

Right now, I feel like one blessed momma. I must admit to NOT feeling that way around 3 PM today. Paige was up from her nap and crabby, and both babies where gassy and fussy, wanting to nurse on and off. Ahhh, the joys of twins and a toddler.

And - how is it possible that they are 2 months old?

I need an Intervention

From taking pictures of my kids. I have 5,708 pictures on my computer now. David got this computer for me for my birthday (one month before I had Paige) 2 years ago. That is a lot of freaking pictures in less than 2 years, yes?

But can you blame me?

We had a bout of the sickies here. Colds for all, except David. Of course. The boys officially had RSV, however it didn't cause any fever/labored breathing/other scary RSV symptoms. But the coughing and runny noses were rough.

We are all on the road to recovery, though!

We are also embarking on our last week of night nannies. I'm ready. I know we can do this.

Baby, its cold outside!

A blast of arctic air has infiltrated the great state of Oklahoma. The trio and I are stuck indoors, as it just isn't worth it to take them out in this.

So - this morning, to pass the time, I have been following Paige around with my camera.

She tried on my running shoes and went for a little stroll down our back gallery.
She did the hokey pokey with Elmo. About 978 times.
Turning herself around

Putting her hand in and out
She did some coloring.
She and her twin baby dolls did some tummy time.
And she smiled : )
Then got very annoyed with me sticking the camera in her face.
Meanwhile, the boys happily watched the chaos!
I am DONE with winter.

Big boys

The boys got weighed today (long post I'll save for another day when I have more energy...)

But - I am thrilled with how big they are getting!

Jack: birth: 6 pounds 3 ounces
1 week: 5 pounds 15 ounces
8 weeks: 10 pounds!

Braley: birth: 5 pounds 10 ounces
1 week: 5 pounds 12 ounces
8 weeks: 9 pounds 14 ounces

It is crazy that there is only a 2 ounce difference in them. I feel like they are very different sizes. But I saw with my own eyes these weights on my pediatricians scale, so I know that is right! YAY for my sweet boys who gain weight like champs!

Confession

I don't really like the newborn stage. I am ready for the boys to be a little bigger.

I hate thinking like that, and always tell people to enjoy their babies when they are tiny because it goes too fast. Well, I wish this time would go faster.

I am too much of a worrier, and that ruins my enjoyment and leaves me feeling uneasy too much of the time.

Exhibit A: Paige got a cold last week. No big deal - just a runny nose, slight cough, no fever or change in behavior, though she did lose her appetite. It lasted a few days.

I can deal with that. I knew that she would be fine, it didn't matter that she missed a few days of good eating - she would be back on track as soon as her sinuses cleared up. And I was right.

Jack and Braley have now got Paige's cold. I knew having babies born during flu/RSV season and having an older child living in the house would expose the boys to more things. But I am SUCH a worrier with them. They are both so congested, coughing, and don't have much of an appetite. Braley sometimes coughs so hard that he throws up : ( I ended up on the phone at 5 AM with the nurses line at Children's Hospital because I just could not take the sound of that little baby coughing any more.

But with no fever, and the fact that they boys are still wetting diapers, there really isn't anything that can be done for them. Just rest, a cool mist humidifier, and trying to keep them as comfortable as we can.

I am ready for cold season to be over. I am ready for my boys to have built up some immunity. I am ready for them to be more interactive so I can feel like they don't just sit there all day. I hate to admit this: but I am ready for the newborn phase to be over.

Yes, I know I will kick myself for this post in about 8 months when they are crawling and it hits me that I'll never have another newborn, but I digress...

Jack SMILES!

Paige and I had a date day today. We got a babysitter for the boys and we went to babies r us and to get her hair cut! It really looks cute - I promise. This picture was taken after dinner. Moms of toddler girls know that hair can get messy during meal time.

We really enjoyed our day together, but were ready to get back home to our boys!

I finally wised up and got another boppy. They love chilling out in these and now they aren't crammed in one.
My sweet angel Jack smiled like crazy today! Unfortunately, it wasn't at me - it was at the ceiling fan. But a smile is a smile : )

I LOVE this gorgeous boy!

And this one too.
Jack is a champ at tummy time.

Braley - notsomuch.
